William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is currently hiring for a Safety Manager to support our assigned renewables and power delivery projects

The Safety Manager will provide oversight of Health & Safety on project sites. To provide safety and health training for field and supervision. Communicate safety trends and observations with division manager.ย 

Travel & Project Assignment: You can live in any city or state in the continental United States. This is an on-site position which may encompass a work site primarily in the Midwest, but may include Eastern and Western states. Must be capable of working on-site for 3 weeks with a four-day rotation. We offer designated per diem of $1,020 per week in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. You must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided for the assigned work location.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe work activities being performed in all aspects on the job site that you are assigned.
  • Develop and maintain Site Specific Safety Plans and EAP (Emergency Action Plan) for the projects.
  • Work with Management, Supervision, and Craft to improve safe work practices and safe work culture. Help plan and solve safety related problems.
  • Site Safety Manager will be a direct report to Corporate Health & Safety Director. Close communication and interaction will be required daily with site safety professionals, site management/supervision, and Division managers.
  • Position will have the authority to cause an operation to immediately suspend if imminent safety concerns need to be addressed. If any changes in methods or functionality are believed needed to be implemented, consultation with Division Manager will be required before any changes are made.
  • Discipline, up to and including termination, for safety violations will be discussed with supervision and management.
  • Provide monthly and weekly safety audit reports.
  • Provide feedback and resources for site safety professionals and operations
  • All safety audit reports and accident/incident reports will be sent to Corporate Health & Safety Director in a timely manner
  • Promote safety leadership from management down to field levels
  • Other duties as directed by the Corporate Health & Safety Director

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Safety or Equivalent, or Electrical Trade Experience as a Journeyman Electrician or Lineman A combination of education & experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Medium and High voltage experienceย 
  • Substation construction and energization experienceย 
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70Eย 
  • Transition Line Construction experienceย 
  • Working knowledge of establishing Equal Potential Zoneย 
  • Wind Turbine Construction experience
  • Solar Farm Construction experience
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience
  • OSHA 30 certification

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive working knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards or other applicable codes
  • Demonstrated construction safety experience with field skill set
  • Advanced Safety/Industrial Hygiene Certifications (CHST) or the ability to obtain the CHST preferred
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies, safety and health professionals and legal representatives
  • Proven ability to manage safety in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Full knowledge and understanding of all local, state, and federal OSHA requirements and construction safety
  • Superior communication and organization development skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
