Job description

About the Role

Are you looking for a career where you can work with your hands, stay active, and see the results of your hard work at the end of every day? Holman Masonry, Inc. is looking for dependable, hardworking General Laborers to join our crews in Farmville.

As a Laborer, you are the engine that keeps our bricklayers and stone masons moving. Whether we are building a high-end custom home or a large commercial facility, your role is critical to ensuring "The Right Way" is the only way we build. No experience? No problem. If you have the right attitude and a strong work ethic, we will train you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Site Prep: Setting up scaffolding, unloading materials, and organizing tools for the day’s work.
  • Mixing: Learning the art of mixing mortar, grout, and concrete to the perfect consistency for our masons.
  • Stocking: Moving bricks, blocks, and stone to the "line" so the masons never run out of material.
  • Equipment Operation: Assisting with the movement of forklifts and other machinery (with proper training).
  • Site Maintenance: Keeping the job site clean, safe, and professional throughout the day.
  • Learning the Trade: Assisting masons with basic tasks and learning the fundamentals of the masonry craft.

Requirements

  • Reliability: You show up on time, every day. Our crew depends on you.
  • Physical Strength: Ability to lift 50–80 lbs consistently and work on your feet in various weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.).
  • Transportation: A valid driver’s license and reliable way to get to our shop in Farmville or designated local job sites.
  • Attitude: A "can-do" spirit and a willingness to follow safety instructions exactly.
  • Experience: Previous construction experience is a plus, but we prioritize character and work ethic over a resume.

Why Work for Holman Masonry?

  • Real Career Path: Many of our Lead Masons started as Laborers. If you show interest and skill, we will teach you the trade.
  • Stable Work: We’ve been in business since 1996 and have a full schedule of projects year-round.
  • Family Atmosphere: We are a "close-knit" group of over 40 people who look out for one another.

Benefits:

    • Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities.
    • Paid Holidays (5 days) and 1 week of Vacation.
    • 401K Program with company contribution (after 1 year).
    • Safety gear and training provided.

Company Description

Since 1996, Holman Masonry has been a premier Class A Contractor specializing in high-quality brick, block, and stone work for commercial and residential projects across Virginia. We pride ourselves on a "hands-on" approach, where quality workmanship and customer satisfaction are our top priorities. At Holman, we are more than just a crew—we are a close-knit family of 40+ professionals who believe that “the only way is the right way.”
