Job description

Join a Growing Transportation Team

Willmer Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing (CMT), construction engineering & inspection (CEI), special inspections, and environmental services. As our transportation team continues to grow, we are seeking a Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Inspector to support a variety of roadway, bridge, transportation, and public infrastructure projects throughout Georgia.


This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, collaborating with contractors and engineers, and playing a key role in ensuring transportation projects are constructed safely and in accordance with project plans and specifications.


This is primarily a field-based position, with approximately 90% field work and 10% office work. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors, traveling to project sites, and working on active transportation and infrastructure projects.


What You'll Do

As a CEI Inspector, you'll work alongside contractors, project managers, and engineers to inspect construction activities, verify compliance with contract documents, and help deliver successful transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily construction inspections on roadway, bridge, utility, and transportation projects.
  • Verify construction activities comply with GDOT specifications, contract documents, and project plans.
  • Inspect earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, paving, concrete, erosion control, and traffic control installations.
  • Document daily construction activities, quantities, and project progress.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project records.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Observe materials testing and verify quality control requirements are met.
  • Identify potential issues and communicate findings promptly to project management.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and final inspections.
  • Promote a safe work environment and follow company safety procedures.


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CEI experience on GDOT or transportation projects.
  • GDOT Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) certification.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification.
  • ICC certifications.
  • Erosion & Sediment Control (Level IA or IB) certification.
  • Experience reading construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience with SiteManager, Appia, or other construction documentation software.
  • Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience is a plus.
