What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Construction EMT?

To thrive as a Construction EMT, you need certification as an Emergency Medical Technician along with a strong understanding of construction site safety and first aid protocols. Familiarity with portable medical equipment, incident reporting systems, and OSHA regulations is often required. Job description

PRN EMT - Onsite Safety and Medical Response (First and Second Shift Available)
About Ramp Health
Since 2002, Ramp Health has partnered with organizations nationwide to deliver high-quality onsite wellness, safety, and occupational health services. We provide accessible care where people work and support healthier, safer job sites across a wide range of industries.
We are seeking PRN EMTs to join our onsite safety and medical response team in Saline, MI. Both first and second shift opportunities are available, offering flexible, as-needed scheduling for EMTs who thrive in active, hands-on roles within a construction-site environment.
About the Role
As a PRN EMT with Ramp Health, you will serve as a key onsite medical resource. You'll respond to injuries and illnesses, support workers through the recovery process, and contribute to a strong safety culture through ongoing visibility and engagement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building rapport with crews, staying active across the jobsite, and making a direct impact every shift.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response and Clinical Care
  • Respond immediately to onsite injuries, illnesses, and medical incidents
  • Provide first aid and determine when offsite evaluation is required
  • Maintain a fully stocked quick-response bag at all times
  • Escort employees to Occupational Health Clinics or Emergency Rooms when needed
  • Perform follow-up monitoring to ensure work restrictions and recovery plans are being followed
  • Document all incidents thoroughly for reporting and compliance

Proactive Safety and Wellness Engagement
When not actively responding to incidents, you will play a visible, proactive role across the construction site:
  • Engage workers daily to reinforce injury prevention and safe practices
  • Conduct walk-throughs to observe jobsite conditions and support safety awareness
  • Talk with crews about hydration, fatigue management, PPE use, and general wellness
  • Reinforce safety messages and risk-reduction strategies with site leadership
  • Provide education on proper lifting techniques, early reporting of discomfort, stretching, and other preventive care topics
  • Foster a positive presence where workers feel comfortable approaching you with concerns or early signs of discomfort

Your consistent engagement and visibility should strengthen the culture of safety across all shifts.
Qualifications
  • Active EMT or EMT-B certification in the state of Michigan (required)
  • Experience in emergency medical response or occupational first aid
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with workers, foremen, and safety leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to documentation accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a construction-site environment
  • A proactive, approachable, and engagement-oriented mindset

Why Join Us?
This PRN opportunity allows you to:
  • Work onsite in a dynamic construction environment
  • Directly contribute to worker health, safety, and injury prevention
  • Build strong relationships with crews and leaders
  • Support a growing occupational health model backed by Ramp Health's field expertise
  • Choose first or second shift scheduling that fits your availability

If you are a confident and proactive EMT ready to support both emergency response and proactive safety engagement, we encourage you to apply and help us create a safer, healthier jobsite.
