JOB SUMMARY:

  • Provide accurate quantity surveys of materials and labor for all CSI Trade categories, from conceptual through working drawings, during pre-construction and construction phases of the project
  • Assist in procurement of project materials allowing for on-time starts to projects


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and estimating from conceptual design to working documents, including materials and labor.
  • Obtain necessary information from the consultants to complete the budget estimates.
  • Verify unit cost pricing for each trade through historical data or vendor contract.
  • Analyze construction cost vs. the latest approved project budget and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Quantify and price cost savings / value engineering opportunities. Analysis may include assessing alternate systems, components, and materials; building-specific phasing, staging, mobilization, procurement, or contracting systems; and/or installation methods, bid packaging, and field construction management requirements.
  • Coordinate, communicate and organize subcontractor and vendor correspondence, pricing, documents, submittals, and RFPs


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is required or a bachelor’s degree with an equivalent commensurate preconstruction experience.
  • 2-3 years of quantity survey take-off experience.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of design review and coordination activities, purchasing and reviewing bids, as well as proper construction scheduling/sequencing and logistics plans is preferred.
  • Serve as a resource to development and construction staff during the preconstruction and construction phases.
  • Prepare other analysis and reports as directed by supervisors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High comfort level with quantitative analysis but also proficient in qualitative writing skills.
  • Familiarity with standard construction details, drawings, and related costs.
  • Able to think creatively and visualize all the related trade items with little detail.
  • Math and critical thinking capabilities
  • Proficiency in take-off and familiarization with standard construction details, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel and Outlook-Calendar
  • Knowledge of Procore and Bluebeam takeoff software
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication and outstanding customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-Motivated and ability to prioritize tasks and projects with and time constraints.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Must be open-minded, positive attitude and team player
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information and material
