Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding consignment sales processesLearning about retail sales roles

Consignment involves selling items on behalf of owners, earning a commission, often in resale or boutique settings. Sales associates directly sell products to customers, earning wages or commissions. While both roles are retail-focused, consignment emphasizes managing inventory and commission-based sales, whereas sales associates focus on customer service and direct sales. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find roles aligned with their skills and career goals.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in consignment roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in consignment roles often face challenges such as managing inventory from multiple consignors, ensuring accurate tracking of items, and maintaining clear communication with both consignors and buyers. Staying organized with robust inventory management systems and setting clear expectations with consignors can help mitigate these issues. Additionally, developing strong negotiation and customer service skills is important, as consignment roles frequently involve handling disputes or setting fair prices. Team collaboration and proactive problem-solving are key to thriving in this dynamic environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a consignment specialist?

To thrive as a Consignment Specialist, you need expertise in inventory management, sales strategies, and a solid understanding of consignment agreements, often supported by experience in retail or logistics. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory tracking software, and online consignment platforms is typically required. Strong negotiation, customer service, and organizational skills are essential soft skills that set top performers apart. These abilities ensure accurate handling of goods, maximize sales opportunities, and maintain positive client relationships in a competitive retail environment.

What is a consignment job?

Consignment jobs involve the process of selling goods on behalf of the owner, where a consignment worker or store agrees to sell items for a client and takes a commission once the item is sold. Job description

Fuel Your Career: Sales & Consignment Specialist at NFI Empire

NFI Empire is where automotive dreams become reality. From custom-built trucks and timeless classics to modern exotics, our showroom is a playground for enthusiasts. We don’t just sell cars; we curate a premier collection and build lasting relationships with collectors and drivers nationwide.

We are looking for a Sales & Consignment Representative who is a "car person" at heart and a closer by nature. If you know the difference between a restomod and an original survivor—and you know how to market both—we want you on the team.

The Role: What You’ll Do

As a key member of our sales team, you will manage the lifecycle of our inventory, from hunting down rare gems to handing over the keys to a happy new owner.

  • Consignment Acquisition: Actively scout and reach out to owners of high-quality classic, exotic, and unique vehicles to bring them into the NFI Empire fold.

  • Sales Excellence: Manage leads from initial inquiry to final handshake. You’ll handle walk-ins, phone inquiries, and digital leads with professional urgency.

  • Market Analysis: Research market trends and historical data to accurately value vehicles and advise consignors on pricing strategies.

  • Listing & Marketing: Work with our media team to ensure every vehicle is represented with world-class photography and compelling, accurate descriptions.

  • Relationship Management: Build a "black book" of collectors and enthusiasts, keeping them informed of new arrivals that match their tastes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Automotive IQ: You have a deep-seated passion for cars. You understand the nuances of the classic and exotic markets.

  • The Hustle: You are a self-starter who doesn't wait for the phone to ring. You’re comfortable making outbound calls and networking at shows and events.

  • Integrity: We deal in high-value assets. Honesty, transparency, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

  • Communication: Whether it’s an email to a CEO or a chat with a local collector, your communication is polished and persuasive.

  • Experience: Previous high-end automotive sales or luxury goods experience is a major plus.

The Perks of the Empire

  • The Inventory: Spend your days surrounded by the coolest cars on the planet.

  • Uncapped Potential: Competitive commission structure that rewards high performers.

  • The Culture: Work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment with a team that lives and breathes horsepower.

  • Growth: NFI Empire is growing fast—this is your chance to grow with us.

Join the Empire.

Don't just sell daily drivers. Sell the cars people dream about.
