Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a ED Resource Mgmt Specialist - Full Time, Evenings - NSG-Emergency Department - 2:00PM - 10:00PM Monday - Friday with Alternating Weekends
In this role, the successful candidate The Resource Materials Management Specialist is the specialist of ED supplies and environmental services. Coordinates the procurement of special consignment orders, capital purchasing, products requisitions and evaluations, oversees maintenance of inventory and equipment. In collaboration with the ED Clinical Director, ED Nurse Managers, ED Clinical Coordinators and ED staff, is responsible for providing a safe and clean environment of care for patients.
Job Responsibilities:
  • To coordinate procurement and usage of consignment supplies and equipment.
  • Schedules/arranges required supplies for "just in time" deliveries of non-stock or consignment items.
  • Creates and implements mechanism for the tracking and assigning of special delivery consignment equipment.
  • Ensures that any devices or equipment brought in for a procedure is inspected by Biomed prior to patient use.
  • Liaison between Hospital and sales representatives in arranging for technical support to be present or available.

  • To manage the maintenance of disposable and perpetual inventories throughout the Emergency Department.
  • Manages day-to-day, standing, and special order requisitions throughout the Emergency Department.
  • Documents and resolves product recalls and variances, i.e.: manages returns, exchanges and credits
  • Tracks and secures performance maintenance of department equipment.
  • Processes and maintains equipment and instrument repair requests.
  • Collaborates with CSR and Materials Management.
  • Periodically inspects and re-organizes stored inventory to create and/or ensure efficient utilization of space.
  • Reviews and adjusts as necessary disposable supply needs, par levels and delivery schedules for optimum availability and utilization.
  • Oversees activities related to the distribution of supplies.
  • Collaborates with staff in creating specialty carts and ensures that staff is assigned to monitor and restock supplies.
  • Periodically reviews inventory for obsolete supplies and equipment in need of replacement.

  • To assist in utilization and standardization practices. To assist the twenty-four-hour management of the Emergency Department.
  • Actively participates in organizational focus group and products review committee.
  • Reports to ED administration team on matters related to departmental supply and equipment needs or improvements, and in expenditures.
  • Obtains proposals, estimates and administrates capital purchase requisitions.
  • Conducts Emergency Department environmental rounds, initiates work orders.
  • Collaborate on Performance Improvement projects as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership, productive work ethic and professional Comportment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency.
Basic computer skills.
Knowledge of regulatory standards for the safe handling practices of hazardous materials.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, which may require alternative responses.
Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various personnel and to maintain effective contacts with a variety of organizational and interdepartmental personnel.
