Windows Engineer

Independently supports the global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public cloud infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices. Provides information guidance to colleagues with less experience. Solves problems through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents. Highly proficient within discipline and contributes significantly to organizational objectives. Windows Server Engineering is the focus.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates, maintains, and upgrades operating systems and software to ensure the security of server assets.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the physical infrastructure, network, and layout of a data center.
  • Provides architectural framework for servers, hardware, peripherals, and connections. Implement standards and guidelines. Ensure adequate capacity for corporate computing needs and identify capacity trends.
  • Provides technical support, provisioning, and automation capabilities for compute resources utilizing multiple operating systems and hardware technologies across public and private cloud services.
  • Performs operating efficiency and stability duties, implements the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
  • Provides regular status, operational, incident, and change reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • 4+ years’ experience managing and patching server assets as well as virtual hosting platforms
  • Strong ability to automate and script maintenance activities for core job functions
  • Strong skills in virtual platform management
  • Strong understanding of data center architecture, networking, and security Strong experience installing, configuring, and automating multiple operating systems
  • Strong experience designing and implementing configuration management solutions across various operating systems and virtualization environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Strong ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions

  • Insurance industry knowledge
  • Financial industry knowledge
  • Strong experience working with Windows Server versions 2012, 2012 r2, 2016 and 2019
  • Strong experience of configuration management utilities (SCCM, Ansible)
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python)
  • Strong expertise packaging and deploying software to maintain compliance with latest releases
  • Strong knowledge and expertise resolving vulnerabilities across various technology disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of domain and intranet management
  • Strong understanding of multiple hardware vendors and technologies
  • 2+ years’ experience programming, scripting, and building automation
  • Strong knowledge of traditional 3-tier web app architecture (web / app / data)
  • Experience participating or relevant understanding of Agile concepts and ceremonies
  • Passionate predisposition to implementing automation in place of human labor
