UPMC is hiring a Full-Time, AEMT to support York County.

Must currently be an AEMT to be considered for this position!

Schedule: 24-hour shifts

This position does require the availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using educational resources that are required or made available.

Collaborates with PHRN and Paramedic to care for critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care; assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate.

Maintains and ensures adequate vehicle operation including proper fuel, fluid levels, lights, sirens, radio, cellular phone functioning. Works with Regional Medical Manager to ensure all mechanical deficiencies are corrected.

Ensures patient and family confidentiality and dignity at all times.

Adheres to the current uniform policy.

Performs all assigned duties, including daily, weekly, monthly, or other duties assigned by the base site manager, including (but not limited to):

Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications)

Participates in shift report from off going crew

Maintains clean patient environment as well as crew quarters

Responds promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.

Ensures safe operation of patient laden stretcher employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times. Maintains safe loading, unloading, adjustment of head of stretcher, and stretcher movement.

Completes all official documentation in a timely manner such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.

Adheres to rules for scheduling, including schedule requests, minimum time, and availability.

Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is.

Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation.

Reports injuries and completes the appropriate documentation, no matter how minor, to a supervisor in a timely manner.

Reports for work well rested and fit for duty.Adhering to the drug and alcohol policy at all times. including prescription and/or over the counter medicine use.

Maintains fitness for duty by adhering to all employee health requirements, including maximum weight, hearing conservation program, and required medical screenings.

*Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

  • 1 year EMT experience.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 1 professional contribution selected from department, hospital or system goals, and approved by your Manager.
  • Previous ambulance and/or hospital experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and be willing to travel to any STAT MedEvac base site as assigned.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom, clinical rotations, educational competencies, and on the job training.
  • Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic OR Paramedic
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
