Conservation Program Coordinator Jobs in Delaware

The Delaware Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, is currently seeking to hire an Environmental Program Administrator. This position reports to the Chief of the Forest Service and is responsible for the implementation of Delaware's CORE Forestry programs. The role oversees and administers federal and state allocations, managing budgets and activities that support the Forest Service’s mission to conserve, protect, and enhance. It represents Delaware at regional and national meetings and works to implement programming based on outlined policies and procedures, and to ensure that CORE programming aligns with the priorities identified by the Chief.

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties. Incumbents can complete duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

• Plans, coordinates, and oversees program implementation.
• Provides technical direction and oversight for subordinates.
• Recommends and drafts laws, rules, and regulations applicable to assigned program areas.
• Drafts grant applications and budget proposals; may participate in other specialized fiscal activities.
• Manages staff personnel matters such as training, performance evaluation, hiring interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts meetings and workshops with other agencies and the private sector.

Applicants must have education, training, and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, geology, physics, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in environmental/natural resources program administration, including overseeing and directing the development, implementation, and evaluation of environmental/natural resource programs and services; establishing program objectives; planning short- and long-range program goals; developing and implementing program policies and procedures; ensuring compliance and funding requirements; and providing advisory support to other agency units.
• Three years of experience in analyzing and evaluating data.
• Three years of experience in interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Six months of experience in operations management, including planning, directing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.
