Lexington Women’s Health, an Axia Women's Health care center, is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team.

  • Locations in Lexington & Nicholasville, Kentucky
  • Provider Team: 6 OB/GYN Physicians, 2 GYN Physicians, 7 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Certified Nurse Midwives & Growing
  • Affiliated with Baptist Health - Lexington
  • Monday to Friday

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN - CNP) provides comprehensive, specialized care to women across the lifespan, focusing on reproductive health, gynecological issues, family planning, and wellness promotion.

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements. 
  • Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol. 
  • Performs routine physical examinations within scope of practice, including pelvic examinations, breast examinations, PAP tests, and any relevant infection screenings. Performs IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals, Endometrial Biopsies, works with Pessaries - education & maintenance; may perform Colposcopies
  • Provides education on women’s issues, preventative care, contraceptive methods, and lifestyle modifications.  
  • Orders diagnostic tests and prescribes medications within scope of practice. 
  • Provides expert, compassionate care for women during the menopausal transition (perimenopause, menopause, postmenopausal) by managing symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep issues, educating patients on treatment options (hormonal/non-hormonal), offering lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, supplements), and supporting overall well-being with evidence-based care.
  • Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care.  
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy. 
  • Consults with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient needs and assessment findings. 
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to ensure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service. 
  • Reviews medical record for follow-up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols. 
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice. 
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning. 
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team. 
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.

Qualifications:

  • Must have active, unrestricted, KY APRN-CNP license and DEA.
  • Must be able to meet all credentialing requirements.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare principles, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology.   
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, make sound clinical judgments, and adapt treatment plans as necessary.   
  • Effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and procedures clearly and empathetically.  
  • Strong computer proficiency and understanding and knowledge of EHR and healthcare technologies.  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.  
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education and stay updated on advances in Women’s Health.  
  • Must be able to work at each practice location as scheduled.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MS, MSN, or DNP).
  • Board certification in WHNP, FNP, or ANP
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an advanced practice provider working in Women's Health highly preferred. Will consider new NPs with Obstetrics/Women's Health RN background. Must have Ob experience.
  • Can perform both IUD and Nexplanon device insertions and removals highly preferred.
  • Experience independently performing endometrial biopsies highly preferred.
  • Colposcopy trained and independent a plus.
  • Ability to read mammography and sonography imaging.
  • Knowledge of lab order sets.
