Job description

 Position Overview

  • Title: Physician – Urgent Care (Redding)
  • Employer: Veterans Health Administration, VA Northern California Health Care System
  • Location: Redding, California
  • Status: Full-time, on-site at Redding VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive urgent care services to Veterans covering a wide range of acute health conditions.
  • Perform procedures, interpret diagnostics, and collaborate with specialty and hospital facilities (e.g., Mather Hospital, Sacramento).
  • Maintain high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, and compassionate care

Qualifications & Requirements
  • MD or DO with full, unrestricted license in any U.S. state/territory.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine with significant emergency/urgent care experience.
  • U.S. citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only if no qualified citizens available)

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $260,000–$325,000 annually
  • Additional compensation includes:
    • Recruitment/Sign-on incentives (authorized)
    • Annual performance bonuses and standard salary increases
    • CME stipend ($1,000/year for board-certified full-time staff)
  • Leave: 50–55 paid days off annually (26 annual, 13 sick, 11 federal holidays, plus CME leave)
  • Retirement: Federal pension with vesting after 5 years and 401(k) contributions
  • Insurance: Federal coverage including health, dental, vision, term life, long-term care
  • Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage provided

Schedule
  • Clinical hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30a.m.–6:00p.m. (Variable schedule consistent with full-time urgent care practice)

Loan Repayment & Incentives
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) available—up to $200,000 over 1–5 years (eligibility required within four months of appointment)
