Job description

PPT Solutions is seeking a Configuration Manager in Huntsville, Alabama.

Responsibilities for the Configuration Manager:

  • Provide configuration status accounting and configuration change control for the hardware and software configuration items.
  • Provide CM support for the Configuration Control Board (CCB) to include scheduling, agendas, minutes, and CCB directives, via the Government's TopVue database, and in person.
  • Provide guidance for development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) and Requests for Variances (RFV).
  • Process, review, and provide recommendations for approval/disapproval on Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Requests for Variance (RFV), CM Plans, configuration audit plans and reports, CDRL deliveries, and Statements of Work.
  • Review Technical Data Packages for accuracy, and compliance with engineering and technical data standards.
  • Interface with program contractors to provide guidance on program CM issues and to monitor risks and contractual compliance.
  • Communicate in writing and orally with internal organizations and functional teams, external Government agencies, and contractors to provide CM/DM guidance, program alternatives, and courses of action.
  • Participate in, and provide CM support to program meetings, working groups, and Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
  • Participate in performing Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) at production contractor or subcontractor facilities.
  • Support the development of Configuration Management plans and processes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the Configuration Manager:

  • Must have 12years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level.
  • Must be able to travel.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the Configuration Manager:

  • Experience using databases.
  • Data delivery schedule management.
  • Ability to interpret contract requirements and relate them to CDRL deliverable requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and follow Government policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation/communication skills.
  • Integrity, flexibility/adaptability, initiative, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  1. This job typically operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise level. This role
    routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and
    fax machines. This role may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time. This role may
    require lifting lightweight objects, typically used in an office environment, such as a computer laptop,
    files or copy paper.
  2. For some, acknowledged at hire and in support of specified contract tasks, this role may be required to
    work outside in moderate weather conditions, stand/remain stationary for long hours, and climb in and
    out of vehicles/aircraft. The noise level in this work environment ranges from moderate to loud and may
    require protective devices such as wearing ear plugs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision,
    distance vision and the ability to differentiate between colors.
