Overview

CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (F3000-2026-25645):

 

Bowhead seeks a Configuration Management Specialist to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Crane Division (NSWC-Crane). This position will support the Radar Technologies Division in the execution of configuration and document management processes.  Configuration Management duties include writing and processing configuration management documentation in accordance with approved procedures, conducting Change Review Boards (CRB) and Configuration Control Boards (CCB), and assisting in the incorporation of approved documentation. Additionally, document management duties will include processing technical procedures in accordance with approved procedures, assisting in the resolutions of discrepancies, conducting Change Review Boards, and assisting in records management.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include: 

  • Executing Configuration Management (CM) at the assigned project level, ensuring CM is conducted in accordance with approved plans and policies.
  • Assisting in the preparation and processing of ECPs and variances, establishing and conducting ECP Review activities within their respective programs, and serve as Secretariat for the CRB, ensuring corrections to documentation are validated and incorporated prior to submitting for official signature while also preparing CRB agendas and scheduling CRB meetings when required, ensuring maximum member representation.
  • Serve as Secretariat for the CCB for products where WXP retains configuration control authority and record minutes of CCB decisions.
  • Maintaining the Integrated Product Data Management (iPDM) Database by ensuring assigned reviews in iPDM comply with established review schedules.
  • Executing the initial review procedures for all documents, change requests, etc., and ensures all valid comments have been incorporated prior to transferring to the Division Configuration/Document Manager for final review.
  • Assisting technical writers in the Change Request process by serving as the liaison between the Subject Matter Expert and technical writer.
  • Providing approved documentation to the proper implementing activity.
  • Managing all unique project or branch level requirements.
  • Assisting as required in execution of records management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required at a minimum with professional office experience required. 
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience supporting NSWC Crane is preferred. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level, however candidates with an active Secret clearance are highly encouraged to apply.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
