Job description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

As a Program Configuration Manager and Windchill Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the integrity and control of product information (hardware, software, and documentation) across the Program, ensuring compliance with standards and requirements. This role demands close collaboration with PMO, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other key functions to create and maintain configuration baselines, support the assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) process, provide support to audits and operations. Additionally, your role will involve administering configuration management tool services, overseeing change management processes, supporting release management, and ensuring adherence to configuration, change, and release management policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Configuration Management

  • Develop and maintain CM plans, processes, and procedures compliant with AS9100, ISO?9001, MIL?STDs, and industry standards (MIL?HDBK?61, EIA?649, ISO 10007, CMMI).
  • Manage product baselines, BOMs, drawings, revisions, and part numbering across the lifecycle within PLM/ERP systems.
  • Support program reviews, customer audits, and government inspections, serving as the CM representative. Lead or support cross-functional Change Control Boards (CCBs) and Engineering Review Boards (ERBs).
  • Serve as CM SME by mentoring staff, advising leadership, improving CM/changes processes, and ensuring export?controlled data compliance.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and external partners to maintain configuration integrity and meet contractual requirements.
  • Drive adoption of modern CM practices and tools, including PLM/ERP integration, digital thread initiatives, and process automation.

Windchill Administration

  • Manage Windchill users, permissions, access control, and training.
  • Configure and maintain libraries, workspaces, lifecycles, workflows, promotion processes, product structures, and PLM data integrity.
  • Monitor system performance, integrations (CAD/ERP), and resolve data issues (broken links, checkout errors, duplicates).
  • Perform mass updates, migrations, and configure templates, attributes, soft types, and rule?based behaviors.
  • Coordinate with IT on patches, upgrades, extensions, and deployments.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, refine, and maintain build and installation processes and procedures
  • Define and implement procedures for releasing new products throughout the entire lifecycle
  • Provide change management and product configuration management guidance
  • Deliver the status of configuration control and logistics documentation such as technical manuals, preventative maintenance system, operations support system, safety, and provisioning documentation
  • Assist and support the review of system technical data and drawings, technical manuals, and configuration baseline documentation to determine the changes required to update requirements and establish new baselines
  • Develop and maintain baselines and configuration control procedures
  • Provide continuous coordination of progress on actions, tasking, and issues being worked by the Configuration Management Team

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and/or classified information as required by government standards
  • Ability to document and perform hardware and software version control processes, policies and procedures.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Military standards such as MIL-HDBK-61 and MIL-STD-31000.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with industry CM standards such as EAI-649, ISO 10007, and CMMI.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with industry drawing standards such as ASME Y14.100.
  • Ability to define and implement hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain Program CM systems and document and software libraries.
  • Ability to develop and improve Program CM processes.
  • Ability to provide CM process training to program team.
  • Ability to communicate CM status to CM Management and Program Management.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of configuration management experience, including experience with DoD Configuration standards and procedures, data management, file management systems, and common engineering design/development software.
  • 3 years of experience as the configuration management Manager or manager for an aerospace & defense program
  • Experience with PTC Windchill, Teamcenter, CMStat, SolidWorks, Cameo, and other configuration management and design/development software a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements, streamline CM workflows, and implement tool upgrades.
