Configuration Manager (2026-25112):

 

Bowhead seeks a Configuration Manager responsible for establishing, maintaining, and improving configuration management (CM) processes across the organization. This role ensures that all systems, products, and infrastructure components are properly identified, documented, tracked, and controlled throughout their lifecycle. The Configuration Manager works closely with engineering, IT, operations, and project management teams to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include: 

  • Develop and maintain configuration management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent practices across projects and systems.
  • Oversee configuration identification, including defining naming conventions, baselines, version control, and documentation requirements.
  • Manage configuration control processes, ensuring that changes are reviewed, approved, and implemented correctly.
  • Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) or other configuration repositories, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct configuration audits and reviews to verify compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, engineering, operations, QA) to ensure configuration integrity throughout the product or system lifecycle.
  • Track and report configuration status, including changes, deviations, and baseline updates.
  • Support release and deployment processes, ensuring that correct versions and components are delivered.
  • Identify and resolve configuration-related issues, including discrepancies, missing documentation, or version conflicts.
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on CM processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information technology, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.  Five (5) to eight (8) years of CM experience.
  • Experience with CM tools such as iPDM and Windchill. Strong understanding of configuration management principles, frameworks, and lifecycle processes
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and maintain accurate configuration records.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
