Job description

We are seeking an experienced IBM Power Systems & AIX Administrator to manage, support, and maintain enterprise IBM Power Systems infrastructure and AIX environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Power7–Power10 systems, AIX administration, VIOS, HMC, LPARs, virtualization, storage, and enterprise infrastructure upgrades.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Administer and support IBM Power Systems, including Power7, Power8, Power9, and Power10 platforms.
  • Perform server provisioning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Execute firmware, microcode, and hardware maintenance activities.
  • Plan and execute IBM Power platform upgrades, migrations, and hardware refreshes.
  • Install, configure, patch, and maintain AIX 7.x environments.
  • Perform AIX Technology Level (TL), Service Pack (SP), and OS upgrades, including NIM/NIMADM-based migrations.
  • Build, configure, maintain, and upgrade Virtual I/O Servers (VIOS).
  • Configure and manage Virtual SCSI, NPIV, Shared Ethernet Adapters (SEA), and virtual networking.
  • Perform VIOS patching, upgrades, health checks, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage storage virtualization and SAN connectivity across IBM Power environments.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Hardware Management Consoles (HMC).
  • Create and manage LPARs and perform Dynamic LPAR (DLPAR) operations.
  • Manage processor and memory allocation across logical partitions.
  • Perform HMC upgrades, backups, recovery, and routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot system, operating system, virtualization, storage, and hardware-related issues.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational procedures, and system configuration records.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience administering IBM Power Systems and AIX environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Power7, Power8, Power9, and/or Power10 systems.
  • Strong experience with AIX 7.x administration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Hands-on experience with VIOS, HMC, LPAR, and DLPAR administration.
  • Experience with NIM/NIMADM and AIX OS migration activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Virtual SCSI, NPIV, SEA, and virtual networking.
  • Experience with enterprise SAN, storage virtualization, and connectivity.
  • Experience performing firmware, microcode, HMC, and VIOS upgrades.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in IBM Power environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IBM Power Systems or AIX-related certifications.
