Job description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Level I Catering & Conference Manager is to coordinate event details and menus for client functions while maintaining budgeted revenues through effective solicitation of business. This role ensures maximum profitability by controlling expenditures and distributing accurate information within prescribed timelines. The goal is to deliver an exceptional guest experience for both the Meeting Planner and the Group.

All duties are performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resortโ€™s policies, practices, and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Catering & Conference Management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee planning, execution, and post-event activities for assigned small to mid-size groups, including pre- and post-conference meetings.
  • Ensure Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) conform to standardized formats and maintain accuracy in production and distribution.
  • Attend all property and department meetings.
  • Ensures that BEO Production and distribution targets are maintained or improved while also ensuring the accuracy of information. 
  • Communicate all event details clearly and in a timely manner to clients and Operations.
  • Ensures accuracy of all MICE related reporting
  • Develop and implement profitable themes, innovative concepts, menus, dรฉcor, and services for events.
  • Make sound, customer-focused financial decisions when addressing service failures and respond effectively to post-event feedback and resolve group issues.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients, vendors, and partners to drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Ensure clients are receiving post-group survey.  Proactively seek client feedback to enhance service quality and satisfaction.

  • Participate in research and implementation of new products, services, and processes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure group planning activities meet standards and allow operating departments to control costs effectively.
  • Promote teamwork, operational excellence, and a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth through pursuit of industry certifications such as CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) and CPCE (Certified Professional in Catering and Events), and active involvement in hospitality associations and networking events.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and adhere to safety standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer 1-year minimum experience as a Catering & Conference Manager working in a 500+ room Resort/Hotel.
  • Working knowledge of both Catering and Convention Services.
  • Must have a working knowledge of EBMS (preferred), Social Tables (preferred), Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse guests and team members.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
