JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY:

Create a positive first impression for all patients, family members, guests to the outpatient pediatric rehab department by providing excellent and efficient customer service. Ensures patients are greeted and directed appropriately to the treating Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist. Confirms the patient has all that is necessary for the service to be accomplished so that a delay is not experienced. Serves as a representative of our facility to the public personally, as well as over the telephone. Maintains the appearance of the treatment rooms in the rehab area of the pediatric clinic and notifies appropriate departments when an area needs attention. Records patient information. Answers telephone calls in a timely manner. Ensure messages are distributed. Schedules patients for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.

Assists in the administration of physical, occupational, and speech therapy treatments to patients, working under direction of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, and Speech Therapist. Under the direction of aforementioned professionals, technician instructs, motivates, and assists patients and family members to learn and improve functional activities, such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily-living activities, including pediatric feeding. Confers with members of pediatric rehab staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Performs clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, faxing paperwork, and filling out forms. May measure vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist clinicians to compile data for patient evaluations and treatments. Responsible for the cleanliness of all treatment rooms in the pediatric rehab department, as well as insuring all toys are cleaned in an appropriate manner. Also responsible for disposing of dirty linen and stocking all treatment rooms with clean linen.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma required. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to:Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Proficient/master performer in all Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Experience with EPIC, a plus. Must be able to coordinate activities and organize work in an efficient and timely manner. Must be able to evaluate and establish priorities, design and accomplish related goals and objectives, and efficiently coordinate the activities and administrative functions of the office. Must possess strong communication skills. Must be capable of assuming new responsibilities and functioning independently within the scope of authority.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
