Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Develop, coordinate and administer a comprehensive athletic training program for Eureka College intercollegiate sports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful development and implementation of the athletic training program including, but not limited to, proper recordkeeping and injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Schedule and coordinate athletic training staff and students for coverage of all athletic training room hours, team practices, and athletic competitions.
  • Coordinate proper response and care with designated team physician on all Eureka College student-athlete injuries.
  • Maintain current knowledge of NCAA guidelines in the NCAA sports medicine handbook as well as conference guidelines and requirements.
  • Develop and manage the athletic training budget, provide yearly inventory, and order supplies and equipment as needed
  • Oversee all athletic training operations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain clear communication and professional relationships with students, coaches, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
  • Maintain accurate medical and insurance records for the athletic department administration, coaching staff, and all support staff.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the athletic training program.
  • Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
  • Provide direction and care for the athletic training equipment and facilities, maintaining a clean and professional work environment.
  • Serve on campus wide committees
  • Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Manage and supervise the assistant athletic trainer and student workers. Responsibilities include interviewing athletic training staff, hiring athletic training staff, training of employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION:
Essential: Master’s Degree in related field
EXPERIENCE
Essential: 2+ years of athletic training experience at the collegiate level.
Desirable: 3+ years of collegiate athletic training experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver’s license. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Licensed or eligible in the state of Illinois.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of athletic training.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
  • Ability to deliver their knowledge to and instruct student-athletes in an effective manner.
  • Knowledge of safety and first aid techniques.
  • Skill in identifying problems, evaluating alternatives and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse population.
  • knowledge of basic computer applications and electronic mail.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The work schedule for this position varies depending on practice and home game schedules. This position requires flexibility and the ability to work mornings, nights and weekends.
TARGET SALARY RANGE: $55,000 to $62,000 annually
