Position Summary
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a critical role in driving revenue growth and expanding Conexus’s market presence in the building automation and energy management sector. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and supporting strategic sales initiatives aligned with Conexus’s mission to deliver innovative technology solutions that enhance facility performance and occupant well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, including C-suite executives, facility managers, engineers, and technical stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue sole-source opportunities and influence project specifications to favor Conexus solutions.
- Maintain a balanced approach to prospecting, networking, client engagement, and account management.
- Actively participate in at least two relevant industry associations (e.g., ASHRAE, AEE, IFMA).
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and networking events to build industry connections and stay informed on market trends.
- Conduct client satisfaction surveys and gather testimonials to support brand credibility.
Sales & Business Development
- Generate qualified leads through strategic outreach, referrals, and inbound inquiries.
- Conduct product demonstrations, educational sessions (“lunch and learns”), and technical presentations.
- Collaborate with sales engineers and executive leadership to develop and review proposals and bid packages.
- Prepare and maintain marketing collateral, including case studies, brochures, and digital content.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM system (Hubspot), including leads, opportunities, meetings, and closed deals.
- Monitor and manage pipeline metrics to support key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue forecasting.
- Oversee Conexus’s social media presence to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
- Ensure all proposals and qualifications adhere to Conexus branding and formatting standards.
- Lead planning and execution of trade show participation, including logistics, booth strategy, and team coordination.
Strategic Alignment & Market Intelligence
- Stay current on industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings in building automation, energy management, and smart building solutions.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure alignment between sales messaging and service capabilities.
- Support the development and execution of the company’s strategic plan and long-term growth objectives.
- Provide input on annual and long-term sales forecasts and budgeting.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC, building automation, or energy management systems.
- At least 3 years of successful sales experience in controls, BAS, or related technologies.
- Familiarity with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, and Ethernet-based networks preferred.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, heat pumps, air handlers, and VAV systems.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and adapt to dynamic client environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting to technical and executive audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); CRM experience required.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and customer-focused with a high level of integrity.
- Ability to travel as needed; valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required.
