Primary Responsibilites:
  • Operate equipment in a Hot Rolling Mill for seamless pipe, like Bar/Layer Saws, Rotary Hearth/Reheat Furnace, Piercing Mill, Mandrel Mill, Stretch Reducing Mill.
  • Monitor pulpit control panels, remote television monitors, computer terminals, HMIs, and making parameter adjustments as necessary to maintain production pace and produce a quality product.
  • Lead in building stand lineups and changing out tooling for the specified product.
  • Maintain safe and reliable rolling mill systems while improving production KPIs yield, performance, and availability.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures for equipment operation.
  • Perform routine inspection of condition of the equipment and report to the Supervisor or the Maintenance department any required part replacement or fix.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections and/or tests, identifying defects, and ensuring that quality meets customer specifications.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and troubleshoot to find root causes for issues.
  • Keep work area organized and clean (housekeeping / 5S).
  • Conduct / participate in LOTO such as verifying zero energy.
  • Actively participate in safety trainings, safety meetings, and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.

Requirements:
  • High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification is required.
  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Basic understanding of automated processes is required.
  • Control room operations experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hot Rolling Mill operations to include Rotary Hearth/Reheat Furnace, Cone Type Piercer, Fine Quality Mill/Stretch Reducing Block rolling mills, Cooling Bed, and Bar/Layer Saw equipment is preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills required to effectively use for data entry, analysis, reporting, word processing, troubleshooting issues, and ability to learn to navigate HMI, Mill Rolling Systems, and other systems such as Level 2 systems, IBA, SAP, and Grafana.
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces with appropriate PPE and in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak, and understand English language in verbal and written communication clearly.
