A concrete tester is responsiblefor the inspection of concrete products and installations. You focus on examining and testing cement to ensure that it meets industry standards and safety requirements. You often handle your responsibilities in the field, and frequently travel to locations to witness concrete mixing and pouring. A concrete tester also collects samples to analyze in a laboratory setting. You can focus specifically on concrete, or you can also test other construction materials such as masonry, mortar, soils, and asphalt. In some positions, you cannot perform your duties until obtaining the American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification.
