Job description

Direct the operations of park and recreation facilities and activities at Oglebay Park. This position will primarily focus on the Pine Room, Crispin Café, Oglebay Outdoor Pool, Tennis and The Welcome Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide efficient management of financial, personnel and physical resources.
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of policies which regulate facilities, personnel and activities.
  • Participate in physical and financial planning.
  • Assist in planning annual budget for park operations.
  • Review and act on financial information.
  • Serve as liaison between the Wheeling Park Commission with various organizations such as but not limited to: Management Schools, Tennis Club, Partners in Education
  • Work with other Oglebay Operations Managers.
  • Oversee set up, tear down and all functions in the Pine Room. Order and inventory supplies.
  • Directly manage Crispin café, Oglebay Outdoor Pool and refreshment, Tennis and picnic shelters.
  • Manage operation of FOL activity area.
  • Directly manage The Welcome Center and staff.
  • Coordinate with other managers and assist the Director with special events and functions. Ex: Celtic Festival, Oglebayfest, Food Truck Fest, and Sunday concert series.
  • Assist in the creation, planning and execution of new events.
  • Develop, support and maintain good community and professional relations.
  • Oversee operations of Pine Room, Outdoor Pool, Tennis and Crispin Café.
  • Support marketing and promotion of park facilities and activities.
  • Supervise the purchase, inventory and use of supplies and equipment used by park operations.
  • Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix
  • Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
  • Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise approximately 8 part-time supervisors and 40 part-time employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Fourth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
