Job description

POSITION: SOCIAL WORK INTERN
The position of Social Work Intern with supervision will assist with providing direct support to clients at the emergency shelter. They will have the opportunity to provide quality case management through adhering to Individual Service Plans (ISP) that were developed by the case manager, assisting with daily client needs at Central Station including Intakes, and researching resources for families and individuals at ACCESS.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of High School Diploma or GED program; be enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year accredited social work program at a community college or University. Good communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to prioritize, multi-task, coordinate and organize effectively. Strong computer and problem solving skills. Basic knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing the homeless population. Valid Ohio driver's license and dependable transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Obtaining and writing bio-psycho-social histories using family interviews, and chart reviews and collateral information.
  • Collaborating with the Case Manager to prioritize the clients' needs and identify outside resources to maximize the success of their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Attending staff meetings and case review sessions as scheduled.
  • Participating in any necessary professional development training.
  • Providing direct support to clients at Central Station (i.e. intakes, shift coverage, etc.).
  • Responsible for adhering to all policy and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and other departmental procedure manuals.
  • Assisting with other duties or projects as assigned by the Director of Client Services and Case Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Social Work Intern position reports directly to the Director of Client Services.

  • must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
