Job description

Position Overview:
Responsible for testing electric circuits, motors, motor-generator sets, controls, relays, automatic bus transfer switches, and other components during different stages of the manufacturing and evaluation process. This role ensures the quality and performance of equipment and components by conducting a variety of tests and making necessary adjustments or repairs. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting safety, quality, and productivity goals.
In this function you will:
  • Conduct various tests, including Diagnostic Tests, Hi-Pot (high voltage), Insulation Tests, Operational Tests, Noise Tests, Load Tests, and Vibration Tests, to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Adjust or replace components to meet test specifications and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Use advanced testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other tools to perform tests and analyze results.
  • Maintain accurate test logs and complete required reports, including Inspection Discrepancy Reports and Government Source Inspections.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on prototype work and suggest meaningful product improvements.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and is completed on time for the next stage of the process.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety and lean practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to new employees and other testers to support the certification process.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material shortages to the Supervisor - Test and other relevant departments.
  • Perform calibrations and routine maintenance on test equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required.

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification from an accredited school.
  • For Level 1: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical equipment testing.
  • For Level 2: Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical equipment testing.
  • Proficiency in job-related mathematics and test calculations (e.g., load, amperage, voltage).
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, and production documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems preferred.

Position Criteria:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing processes.
  • Ability to maintain positive customer relations during observed testing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (overhead cranes are available for heavier loads).
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, with some tasks performed while seated.
  • Repetitive motion, including lifting, bending, and squatting, is inherent to this position.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory training, including hearing training, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and routine maintenance initiatives.
