Department: 05550 HC Main Lab 101 Redmond Rd - Laboratory Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 9 AM - 7 PM and every 6th weekend to work the micro department. Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) will also be considered. Pay Range $30.70 - $46.05 *** We will also consider Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) *** Job Summary: The Medical Technologist I uses a high degree of skill to prepare blood, urine and body fluid samples, and perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Major Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes results and reports through laboratory computer system
  • Performs related duties including quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, workload recording, incomplete work lists, ordering and stocking supplies
  • Follows state and other agency regulations and organizes
  • Prioritizes workload for maximum productivity.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Registered Medical Technologist ASCP or equivalent Education Required: Associate's Degree in Medical Technology Experience Required: One year formal training in Medical Laboratory Technology Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Performs quality work. Produces accurate results in all assigned areas. Produces test results within established turnaround times. Utilizes Delta checks to follow up on significant changes in patient results. Assures that work is completed at end of shift by utilizing an incomplete work list. Understands and uses age and gender based normal ranges for patient test results. Performs and documents quality control according to departmental policies and takes corrective action if necessary. Keeps work areas clean and well-stocked with supplies and reagents. Displays a sense of cooperation in daily work relationships. Adapts well to changes. Modifies work schedule as needed. Follows posted work schedule. Submits earned time requests according to policy. Maintains proper attendance. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. Communicates problems and information to co-workers to assure continuity of workflow. Demonstrates proper telephone manners. Assists co-workers. Maintains a high level of productivity. Effectively utilizes allotted time and resources. Demonstrates a high degree of organizational skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
