Job description

Overview

CAD Designers will work with experienced engineers and will be put in a position to continuously develop skills and collaborate with other experienced RoviSys CAD Designers. Individual responsibilities will be designated by the project manager and lead resource based on the specific requirements of each project and the individual's capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate customer specifications, standard operating procedures, and documentation relating to control panels and electrical design
  • Read and understand P&ID drawings.
  • Design Control Cabinet layouts including PLC hardware, Power Supplies, Terminal Strips, and all electrical equipment associated with project with good wiring and layout practices in mind.
  • Create and/or edit panel layouts, sub-panel layouts, bills of materials, and electrical schematics for control enclosures
  • Create and/or edit instrument schematics, one line diagrams, conduit and cable schedules for electrical installations
  • Perform self-check of all work for accuracy
  • Peer review other's work for accuracy
  • Provide technical support for panel fabrication technicians
  • Inspect completed control enclosures against documented test procedure
  • Create and/or edit documented test procedures
  • Teach other technicians to help improve efficiency and efficacy
  • Learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Participate in design review meetings
  • Understand wiring codes such as NEC, IEC, and NFPA
  • Work with Engineering team on electrical initiatives needed for the project Field Verification of Drawings
  • Troubleshoot installation discrepancies
  • Support field verification of drawings, commissioning and qualification activities at customer sites
Qualifications
  • General knowledge of electrical circuitry, NFPA, NEC, and/or IEC codes
  • General CAD experience in AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, etc.
  • Ability to recognize and offer suggestions for continued improvement within the CAD Team for efficiency and accuracy
  • Associate Degree or Technical certification
