Job Title: Support Specialist - Textbook Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 195 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 203 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Provide administrative support for the Textbook operation. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Minimum Assessment Standard: Broad knowledge of MS Word.
  • Excellent math ability. Excellent proofreading ability. Accurate data entry and typing skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work with people effectively.
  • Ability to communicate well with people via telephone and electronic mail.
  • Computer application experience (MS Word, Excel, database applications).
  • Ability to work with database applications on microcomputer and main frame computerized purchasing and inventory software programs.
  • Ability to keep accurate textbook records.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years office experience.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Clerical Support:
  • Perform general administrative duties for Manager of Purchasing and Textbooks and Textbook Specialist.
  • Assist with various office duties, i.e. type, file, copy materials, answer telephones.
  • Perform necessary computer skills as needed, i.e. word processing, database, graphics, spreadsheets and data entry. Prepare and maintain records if necessary.
  • Utilize the textbook inventory program to facilitate shipments to the campuses.
  • Responsible for managing data entry for Textbook operation.
  • Place orders for textbooks, report damaged books and assist district personnel with textbook ordering.
  • Interact with and provide assistance to district personnel, parents, patrons and vendors.
Other:
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in cross-training.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
