Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

SCC Soft Computer has a Genetics Associate Support Specialist position open. The Genetics Associate Support Specialist Level 1 is responsible for Integration, Smoke and Hot Fix correction testing of the Genetics products when loaded on an SCC system or a client test environment as directed by the Team Lead or Manager. Assists in getting post live issues resolved in a timely manner via supervised troubleshooting of Genetics and related applications.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Duties:
  • Performs test case review for accuracy prior to execution as required
  • Performs Smoke and Integration testing as described in test cases
  • Documents all testing results
  • Documents failures found during testing and reports them for review
  • Works closely with the Team Lead for ongoing technical training
  • Under direction of the Team Lead, performs troubleshooting of non-complex application issues related to the Genetics Suite
  • Escalates, or redirects, tasks to appropriate resources when unable to resolve the issue, or task priority and situation requires such escalations
  • Monitors appropriate email for client task activity bins
  • Under the direction of the Team lead or Product specialist Performs troubleshooting of non-complex issues related to non-Genetic Suite applications
  • Escalates or redirects tasks to appropriate resources when unable to resolve the issue, or task priority and situation requires such escalation

  • Participates in corporate in-service and technical training programs as assigned
  • Assists with the validation and testing of delivered software after delivery to client environment
Administrative Duties:
  • Properly time sheets against appropriate client and SCC tasks
  • Reviews assigned workload to assess potential delays in the delivery of support solutions
  • Complies with all approved procedures, directives, and guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education Required:
Degree or Certification in a Healthcare or Information Technology related field is highly desirable.
Must at least have an Associate’s Degree.
ASCLS, ASCP, ABHI, or other certification in Cytogenetics or Medical Technology is a plus.
Experience Required:
Experience and understanding of the software development and product development processes.
Experience in software testing process.
Experience in using software testing tools, preferred.
Experience in genetic laboratories preferred with proficiency in basic theory and laboratory practice, specimen preparation, cell culture and harvesting, and chromosome analysis, working knowledge of an applicable healthcare discipline.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Working knowledge of the applicable healthcare discipline
  • Proficient in the use of a PC
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent knowledge of testing tools
  • Proficient in the use GUI applications such as Windows and MS Office
  • Ability to work effectively under stress
  • Ability to multi-task
