Job description

We currently have a career opportunity for an Appian Architect to join our team.

As an Appian Architect you will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle which includes scoping, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of application developed for our clients. As a member working in a team environment, you will work with technical leads and developers to interpret/translate business process software requirement specifications into Appian process model prototypes and solutions. The Architect will be responsible for ensuring Appian platform best practice design standards are applied, as well as remain current on Appian platform capabilities to ensure designs incorporate the latest features, including Generative and Agentic AI, and Agentic RPA. The Architect will also assist discovery activities to define appropriate rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates, as well as assist with defining team delivery models to ensure successful outcomes. The Architect will possess the Appian platform knowledge and delivery understanding to appropriately estimate new project opportunities and extensions.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee project design and development activities to ensure end outputs adhere to best practices and will scale and be performant
  • Lead complex design discussions to assist project teams with overcoming delivery activities
  • Guide and mentor the Agile development teams, executing a Scrum cadence to ensure engagements run smoothly, consistently, and effectively
  • Guide customers through infrastructure, installation, and platform topics so customers realize the value of their platform investment
  • Stay current on platform strategy and advocate new platform capabilities
  • Participate in technical planning & requirements gathering phases including estimate, develop, test, manage projects, architect and deliver.
  • Evaluate user requests for business process automation using models to determine feasibility and technical requirements.
  • Leads data migration, loading and conversion between data stores in a microservices environment.
  • Participate in team design meetings, daily scrum meetings, and other development meetings.
  • Assist in application deployment and roll-out to production.
  • Co-manage project with Leads to work with team members to identify, mitigate and resolve project issues and risks.
  • Serve as a technical lead and mentor. Provide technical support or leadership in the development and continual improvement of service.
  • Soft skills for interaction with customers for requirement gathering and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with all aspects of the Appian technology platform.
  • Certifications - At least Appian Lead Level Certified or equivalent.Ideally either having, or pursuing, an Architect level certification.
  • Experience leading the technical planning & requirements gathering phases including estimation, high level design and project team definition.
  • Background in user experience, UI design, or HC required.
  • Client facing or consulting experience highly preferred.
  • Skilled problem solvers with the desire and proven ability to create innovative solutions.
  • Ideal candidates can clearly demonstrate a desire to continually grow their technical acumen โ€“ keeping abreast of the latest trends in the Intelligent Automation (BPM, AI, RPA, Low Code, Case Management) space.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing multiple projects and/or delivery teams in a capacity to review/contribute to designs, code reviews, quality checks, UI/UX, and performance/scalability

Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution.

Familiarity with AI-enhanced platforms is a plus.

A solid understanding of AI capabilities and limitations including ethical considerations is expected

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $81,978 to $178,090. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
