Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a CAD Designer at xAI, you will play a critical role in supporting the design and development of our state-of-the-art data centers and AI infrastructure. You will create detailed technical drawings, models, and documentation that enable rapid construction, installation, and iteration of complex mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems. Working closely with engineering, construction, and facilities teams, you'll help translate innovative concepts into precise, buildable designs that support xAI's mission to advance scientific discovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD/BIM software
  • Create layouts and schematics for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and structural systems in data center environments
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to incorporate design changes and ensure accuracy
  • Produce construction documents, as-built drawings, and installation details
  • Manage drawing revisions, version control, and documentation standards
  • Perform site visits and field verification to ensure drawings reflect actual conditions
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of professional CAD design experience, preferably in industrial, data center, or mission-critical facilities
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Associate degree or higher in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with BIM 360, Navisworks, or other coordination tools
  • Background in data center, semiconductor, or heavy industrial design
  • Knowledge of MEP systems, electrical layouts, and structural detailing
  • Familiarity with construction processes and ability to read/interpret engineering specifications
  • Experience working in a fast-moving tech or construction environment
