Definition
Under general supervision, provides extensive expertise to teach Information Technology and Computer Science courses as part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program. Designs and implements an effective and appropriate educational and vocational training program for assigned students to prepare them for employment; works collaboratively with pupils, parents, support staff, administrators, health organizations, agencies, and community groups to enhance the training and employment opportunities for students.
Duties and Responsibilities
โ€ข Develop lesson plans related to Computer Science and Information Technology.
โ€ข Work directly with students to understand the concepts of programming.
โ€ข Teach students how to use visual programming languages.
โ€ข Instruct students on the concepts of Artificial Intelligence.
โ€ข Train students how to code.
โ€ข Create lessons based on standards from the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) and the North Carolina Essential Standards for Career & Technical Education.
โ€ข Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.
โ€ข Follow all safety procedures.
โ€ข Use appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance critical, creative and innovative thinking capabilities of students.
โ€ข Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
โ€ข Performs other related work as required.

Physical Requirements
โ€ข Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, walking, standing, talking, lifting, hearing and repetitive motions.
โ€ข Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
โ€ข Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes and do extensive reading and research.
Minimum Education and Experience
โ€ข Associates degree in area of licensure with four years industry-related work experience, or Bachelor's degree in area of licensure with two years industry-related work experience.
โ€ข NC Teaching Certification - Licensure Area: (760) Business, Finance, and Information Technology Education, (765) Information Technology Education, or (820) Technology, Engineering, and Design Education
โ€ข Completion of the 40-hour New Teacher Induction Program approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Division of Career and Technical Education.
