Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) at Saginaw Valley State University invites a diverse pool of applicants for a one-year temporary Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses for the various programs housed in the department, including the Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Computer Engineering majors, as well as in the Master of Science in CSIS program. Participation in departmental, college, and university service is expected.

Faculty in the Department of CSIS are actively engaged, both in and out of the classroom, in preparing students for rapidly evolving high-demand careers. They regularly publish in prestigious journals and present at conferences such as IEEE and ACM. CSIS faculty also advise student organizations involved in a range of activities, including ACM, Google IgniteCS, Hour of Code, and Girls Who Code.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. or ABD in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge and experience in areas such as advanced Java and Python programming, software engineering, operating systems, assembly language, computer organization, and mobile app development.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with undergraduate teaching are highly desirable.
  • Experience in cybersecurity and/or system administration will be a plus.
