Position Overview:

The Director, Engineering and Technology is responsible for guiding engineering execution, enterprise technology platforms, solution architecture, technical standards, and selected critical initiatives across infrastructure, cloud services, data platforms, automation, AI enablement, and enterprise software delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead architecture and technical design for enterprise technology initiatives, including cloud, infrastructure, data, automation, AI-enabled solutions, and software platforms.
  • Partner with engineers and architects to design, build, solve, and optimize solutions while providing technical leadership for complex issues and key design decisions.
  • Provide senior-level support for complex incidents, reliability issues, performance concerns, integrations, and production-impacting problems.
  • Establish practical engineering standards for documentation, code review, automation, deployment practices, operational readiness, and supportability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team by setting clear priorities, providing feedback, and supporting career growth.
  • Lead the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, SQL Server, VMware, and related technologies.
  • Drive automation, platform improvements, and technical delivery through scripting, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and hands-on engineering support.
  • Lead the design and enablement of enterprise AI initiatives by guiding architecture, platform selection, governance, security, while helping teams identify and implement high-value AI solutions that improve business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to guide architecture, delivery practices, code quality, lifecycle standards, and platform integration.
  • Review designs, prototypes, automation, scripts, and code as needed to ensure maintainability, security, reliability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Define development patterns, DevOps practices, documentation expectations, and release-readiness criteria.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions, manage priorities, and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Partner with vendors and team members to evaluate technology solutions, support budgeting, and develop technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure technology solutions are designed and operated with appropriate security, compliance, resilience, monitoring, backup, recovery, and access-control considerations.
  • Partner with security and infrastructure team members to align with relevant frameworks, controls, and organizational policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive hands-on technical experience, including engineering leadership, architecture, operations, or enterprise technology delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical team members.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, virtualization (VMware or similar), databases (SQL Server or similar), networking, automation, and operational support in production environments.
  • Ability to review architecture, scripts, code, deployment plans, technical documentation, and troubleshooting approaches.
  • Experience leading complex technical projects, managing priorities, communicating risks, and driving execution across team members.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data protection, access control, and secure technology operations.
  • Experience with MySQL, enterprise storage, backup and recovery, network technologies, firewalls, VPNs, IP routing, and IP multicast.
  • Experience with AWS and/or GCP in addition to Azure.
  • Experience with data pipelines, data modeling, ETL/ELT, Spark, Delta Lake, Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with AI platforms, AI workflow integration, MLOps/LLMOps, Azure AI Foundry, Azure ML, MLflow, model evaluation, or production monitoring of AI-enabled systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming or scripting languages such as Python, C#/.NET, TypeScript, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Bicep, Docker, Kubernetes, or related tooling.
  • Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Pay Range: $180k - $220kย USD.
