Business Intelligence Developer


Business Intelligence Developer I (BID-I) is a member of a team responsible for the technical functions associated with creating and maintaining data visualizations. The incumbent will build charts, create custom calculations, requirement gathering and providing data insights. The incumbent performs data loading, connects to multiple data sources, must be knowledgeable of SQL scripts, and follow defined best practices to produce data visualization and provide valuable insights.


Key responsibilities include:


Using the company's Bl platform and other reporting tools to assist with operational and analytical reporting solutions consistent with the vision and direction of the Director, Analytics Development and the VP, Data Analytics.


Collaborating with end users, Bl developers, data analysts, and business analysts in business units as well as both local and enterprise technology units to meet reporting needs of stakeholders and grow Bl capabilities.


Assist customers with submission requests, server navigation and understanding the framework and concepts of Tableau Server.


Escalate verified issues and failures to the Tableau team.


Assisting in data analysis for data quality issues by identifying data integration errors and working with data integration teams to provide solutions and improve data quality.


Supporting holistic business analysis and reporting of vital KPls.


Assisting in identifying business rules and requirements for data integration processes, providing guidance and support to data integration developers by documenting rules and procedures required to transform, process and load data into reporting solutions.


Using and maintaining the business glossary, data dictionary, and source-to-target data mapping documentation as necessary.


Identify business opportunities or expand ideas obtained from management to conceptualize and define and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact.


Identify performance improvement opportunities via data analysis and develop decision support tools to ensure the most cost conscience, efficient use of company resources that supports service objectives.


Develop concepts into business plans utilizing appropriate research techniques, methodologies, and experience and present them to the department with recommendations for implementation.


Perform extensive analysis of the problem, model, and resources available and alternative solutions.


Identify, analyze, interpret, and visualize trends or patterns in complex data sets.


Build dashboards, based on identified metrics, to support business decisions for both strategic and operational needs.


Perform other special projects and assignments as directed.


BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant field of study. Coursework in Data Analysis, Information Management or Information Technology preferred.


3 - 5 years of experience working in Business Intelligence and reporting solutions (preferably Tableau), demonstrate capabilities with database management software such as Oracle and SQL Server.

The ability to design visualizations using Tableau Desktop.
