Chemistry Laboratory Technician
Rose-HulmanInstitute of Technology has an amazing opportunity in the Chemistry &Biochemistry Department as a Chemistry Laboratory Technician. We have beenranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & WorldReport Best Colleges Guide for the last 27 consecutive years.
The ChemistryLaboratory Technician is responsible for supporting instructional and researchoperations by setting up, operating, testing, calibrating, maintaining, andrepairing laboratory equipment and associated computer systems. This positionensures that laboratory spaces are clean, functional, and properly prepared bymaintaining work areas, managing supplies, and ensuring equipment readiness.The technician sets up and validates a wide range of laboratory experiments,demonstrations, and procedures in accordance with established protocols,institutional standards, and safety regulations.
In this role,the Chemistry Laboratory Technician assists and instructs faculty and studentson the safe and effective use, operation, and care of laboratory equipment,tools, and instructional technologies. The technician provides technicalsupport for faculty and students engaged in instructional laboratories,research activities, capstone projects, and independent studies, helping totroubleshoot issues and ensure projects are conducted safely and efficiently.Additionally, the technician consults with faculty regarding equipment needs,modifications, or adaptations required for demonstrations or instructionalpurposes, and implements teaching aids and laboratory support materials toenhance the learning experience. Through these responsibilities, the ChemistryLaboratory Technician contributes to a safe, organized, and academicallysupportive laboratory environment.
Qualifiedcandidates will possess an associate degree or equivalent from an accreditedtwo-year college or technical school and a minimum of two years of relevantprofessional work experience. In lieu of the required education, candidates mayqualify with three additional years of directly related experience.
In addition tothe above requirements, preferred candidates will have experience usingand maintaining instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, NMR, IR, UV-vis spectroscopy,and mass spectrometry. Preferred candidates will also exhibit excellentinterpersonal skills, a service mindset, and the ability to work independently.

Pay range is $20.20/hour- $26.45/hour. Pay is competitive. A higher pay may be negotiated based onexperience and qualifications.
