The DCS Air & Space Technology (AST) Sector is seeking an AFSIM Modeling Specialist for an exciting opportunity in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). In this role, you will:
• Deliver technical expertise with a primary focus on Modeling, Simulation & Analysis.
• Collaborate closely with DCS computer scientists and data analysts to support digital engineering initiatives.
• Transition critical capabilities directly to Air Force programs.

• Work across departments to support world-class R&D while benefiting from training, mentorship, and career growth. Essential Job Functions:
• Team-Oriented Collaboration: Work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams of software developers, engineers, and data analysts to support complex analytical research and Operator-in-the-Loop studies.
• AFSIM Architecture & Integration: Support the development and integration of AFSIM components, including custom plugins, system models, autonomy/AI capabilities, and operational concepts within real-time simulation environments. Assist with incorporating high-fidelity platform models and external model sources as needed.
• System Modeling: Design and model complex heterogeneous systems, including Aircraft Systems, Missile Systems, Radars, Jamming (Electronic Warfare), and Communications.
• DevSecOps & Digital Engineering: Implement GitLab CI/CD pipelining featuring automated testing, automated documentation, and security scanning. Drive cloud-based development and application integration into cloud platforms.
• Optimization & Testing: Utilize system-based optimization techniques to maximize performance in real-time simulations. Lead testing and evaluation of simulation environments, including automated testing for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) projects.
• Agile Framework: Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and triage. Required Skills:
• Active Secret level US DOD security clearance.
• US citizenship required due to sensitivity of customer requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar) with 5+ years of experience.
• 3+ years of AFSIM experience focused on mission-level modeling and scenario analysis.
• Understanding of software development processes (Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD) with experience developing software using Object-Oriented Programming practices.
• Experience modeling data structures, flows, and integrations across heterogeneous systems.
• Understanding of military platforms, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), CONOPS, and mission-level concepts (air combat, ISR, electronic warfare, or electromagnetic spectrum operations highly desirable).
• Experience with Agile Methodology, particularly utilizing the Scrum framework.
• Experience with Git-based version control, including branch management and merge request workflows in GitLab.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a drive to explore new problems and develop creative solutions.
• Must work onsite at customer facility (Remote work is not available). Desired Skills:
• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Master's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar).
• Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with SysML diagramming tools.
