Job SummaryThis role will support the maintenance department by working alongside Maintenance Technicians to in an advanced manufacturing setting. This role provides handson exposure to maintenance practices, automation systems, and technical troubleshooting. The intern will assist with routine equipment inspections, basic repairs, documentation, and improvement projects while learning core skills in industrial automation, mechanical systems, and production equipment maintenance. This position offers practical training and mentorship designed to build foundational knowledge for a future technical career in advanced manufacturing. Job Summary-

Responsibilities-

Essential Functions:

  • Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
  • Assists with technical tasks and project support.
  • Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments.
  • Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
  • Learns technical processes and procedures.
  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
  • May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
  • Handles basic issues and problems
Qualifications-

Required Qualifications:

  • Required education and experience: Must be currently enrolled in related Technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.
  • Must be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills. Attentiveness. Ability to understand and follow directions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Travel Requirements:

  • No or very little travel likely.
