Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Co-Op Student to join our team as a Data Analyst student. This role offers hands-on experience with real-world data challenges and the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects. You will support your supervisor and team by performing analysis, preparing reports, conducting research, and developing data visualizations to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

   Assist with daily operational tasks and provide analytical support to your supervisor/manager.
   Perform data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights that support business goals.
   Conduct research using various methodologies and consolidate findings into reports or presentations.
   Create dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
   Draft documents, prepare reports, and track key metrics and project outcomes.
   Provide support in customer interactions through email, phone, or in-person inquiries.
   Perform administrative tasks including data entry, document filing, and basic troubleshooting.
   Participate in customer engagement exercises and field visits as needed.
   Assist in the development and implementation of internal programs, policies, and process improvements. 

Skills and Qualifications

   Must be enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
   Knowledge of statistical methods and their practical applications.
   Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, SQL, or R).
   Familiarity with data management, databases, and data warehousing concepts.
   Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
   Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
   Demonstrated understanding of municipal government operations is an asset.
   Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
   Comfortable working in a primarily office-based environment with occasional site visits.
