A DAY IN THE LIFE

A day in the life as a CAD Designer involves creating and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and layouts that support utility-scale solar and wind energy projects. You'll work closely with engineers and project teams to develop site layouts, electrical and civil drawings, equipment arrangements, and construction documents while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards. This role plays a key part in transforming engineering concepts into buildable designs that support successful project planning, execution, and delivery.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Supportsestimating andengineering efforts with quantity takeoffs, drafting, modeling,anddata analysis.Generatesbid quantities and performstakeoffs for bid items.Communicatesany discrepancies noticed in the plans and specifications to the estimators/engineers.
  • Overseas, organizes, and convertsincoming CAD/GIS bid data for importing into Autodesk Civil3D,Map3D,ESRI ArcGIS programsor similar type programs.
  • Tracks design changesandadditions/upgrades to all plans include communicating the scope of design changes to the project teams.
  • Developsknowledge ofRenewable Energy industry standards.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum of a two-year technical degree in Drafting and Design - Civil, Electrical, and/or Mechanical or related degree (eg. Computer Science, Engineering Technology, etc), or directly relevant experience in utility scale renewables.
