Overview:

The Programmer III creates, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, debugging, and documenting programs. Provide customer facing technical assistance in support of business development, sales, and project activities for the A/V Unified Communications team and is responsible for programming and delivering solutions while applying technical competencies to ascertain sustainable competitive advantage.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop device/system modules to be reused on standard systems.
  • Work closely with the Director to develop/modify standards of control.
  • Design and program commercial control systems.
  • Load and troubleshoot control system programs onsite.
  • Update control system software and firmware.
  • Provide online and phone support for control systems and programs.
  • Act as a consultant to the customers when designing custom user interfaces.
  • Create custom user interfaces for control systems.
  • Research new products and create new “modules” for them.
  • Work within tight timescales as part of a high-performing team and complete assigned proposal and project tasks within budget and schedule.
  • Completion and maintenance of project schedules as required.
  • Provide guidance and assist the installation personnel in the implementation and deployment of the engineered solutions in assigned projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and other teams by participating in sales presentation, conference calls, and customer meetings as needed to generate profitable revenue opportunities.
  • Research, develop, and apply new and existing technologies to create new products or methodologies or enhance and improve existing products or methodologies.
  • Responsible for reading, understanding, and following all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain through self-motivation, discipline, and focus a leading edge level of functional/technical skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Generate and execute test and acceptance test plans in-house and on-site.
  • Work effectively across cross-functional lines, in coordination with others involved in operations, marketing, sales, finance, logistics, and maintenance services.
  • Contribute to the development and ensure adherence of engineering processes and the UNICOM Government, Inc. CAD standard to ring continuity to the exchange and usability of engineering data and drawings within the organization and its customers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of emerging trends in the A/V telecommunications industry as a whole.
  • Other functions/duties as required to meet the needs of the company.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree with 1-2 years of experience OR 8-10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working with AMX/Crestron languages.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient in the usage of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to follow a plan of activities and execute with punctuality and attention to detail.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Avixa CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D are highly desired.
  • Other industry/manufacturer certifications such as Crestron, AMX, Extron, C#, ClearOne, Biamp, or Polycom are a plus.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel may be required to client locations.

Security Clearance:

SECRET Level Required

  • Must have a current US Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must also be able to maintain a US Government SECRET clearance.
