Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Infrastructure & Transportation Practice that is primarily focused on multi-modal transportation and infrastructure projects. The candidate will work on various projects and act as a member of the infrastructure team and will get an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects involving safety studies, multi-modal roadway planning, highway and bridge plans. CADD technicians are responsible for creating precise 2D and 3D technical drawings and models for infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and drainage systems. Requirements vary by experience level, ranging from entry-level roles requiring basic technical training to senior positions demanding extensive project experience and specialized software expertise.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for transportation infrastructure, requiring proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation
  • Provide drafting layouts, performing calculations (earthwork, quantities), and coordinate with engineers to identify design discrepancies.
  • Make use of your knowledge of the principles of highway design using software tools; particularly MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Support the project team to ensure projects meet the defined schedule, scope and budget.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What your experience looks like
  • Associate degree in Computer Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 2-8+ years of experience in CADD design specifically for highway, bridge, or heavy civil transportation projects.
  • A solid understanding of civil engineering principles, including highway design, surveying, grading, drainage, and structural detailing (e.g., rebar and structural steel).
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D is required, with experience in OpenRoads, OpenBridge Designer and 3D modeling highly valued.
  • Ability to produce construction drawings, structural details (reinforced concrete, steel), grading plans, and site layouts. Experience with surveying data, point clouds, and client-specific standards is required.
  • Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
