Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking an adjunct instructor for the Technology Management & Mechatronics department!
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Prepares as necessary instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc.).
  • Instructs, manages and supervises students in classrooms and computer labs using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluates instruction and learning using appropriate testing methods and in consultation with full-time faculty.
  • Prepares and administers assessment instruments, an assessment report, and an improvement plan following department specifications.
  • Works closely with an assigned full-time faculty member to ensure that each class taught meets academic standards, department standards, and course/program outcomes.
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
  • Coordinates engaged experience programs with students as assigned.
  • Assists counselors, department chairperson, program coordinator, faculty, and department staff to maintain an effective program.
  • Compliance with university policy for certification of online instructors.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
A master's degree in Technology Management, Mechatronics, or a related field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Project Management, Operations Management, or Business Management AND 2 years of teaching experience, relevant professional experience or a combination of both.
OR
A bachelor's degree in one of the above fields plus at least four years of teaching experience, relevant professional experience, or a combination of both.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development, including online teaching in project management, engineering management, technology management, and mechatronics.
  • Knowledge of teaching through the implementation of appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation, and preparation.
  • Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum.
  • Knowledge of online teaching environments like Canvas or other course management systems.
Skills:
  • Skills in maintaining professional and ethical academic standards.
  • Skills in interpersonal interactions, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Abilities:
  • Ability to work with various individuals, programs, departments, and industry professionals.
