Job Description:
This position allows the student to work side-by-side with skilled engineer professionals to assist in the engineering of our driveline and steering systems. This co-op exposes the student to multiple areas of the full lifecycle of a project - from requirements to design through testing to finally implementation in production for a variety of customer programs. The student will be assigned tasks and projects based on their education level, current skills, targeted development opportunities in line with current business and project needs.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Assist engineers with testing, analysis, documentation and other project activities as needed
  • Create presentations to communicate test findings using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Support technology development, innovation, efficiency and process improvement activities
  • Support core processes, procedures, and documentation to support efficient project execution
  • Assist supervisor in any administrative / clerical work as needed
  • Support Engineers on gathering, processing, and reviewing data
  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues
  • Build products with attention to detail in setting all assembly specifications
  • Regular contact with others outside the work group
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal customers

Education Requirements:
  • Candidate must be attending a local 2-year college or 4-year university and pursing a degree in Engineering
  • Candidate must have a minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during the Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and documentation
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical principles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to a disciplined approach on projects
  • Good oral & written skills
  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following: Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
