SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of departmental workers.

Swing Shift - Monday-Friday 2:30PM to 12:30PM


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Schedule functional areas to achieve optimal usage on machines
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Direct setup and adjustment of machines
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations, specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties as needed.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and maintain time and production records.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Perform administrative duties such as regular employee meetings, timekeeping/attendance/vacation requests, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, interviewing, training and development.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Company policy, and accepted safe work practices.
  • Executes necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Machine Tool Technologies or a minimum 2 years of trade school, vocation education, or four years of formal apprenticeship (or equivalent combination of education and 2+ years of working related experience)
  • Must be reliable and have excellent attendance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading as well as mid to high level GD&T working experience.
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming and accepted inspection practices
  • Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines.
  • Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy in part making
  • Ability to speak basic English language
  • Must be well organizes and able to effectively present information in one-on-one and large group situations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Completion of NTMA apprenticeship preferred


PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Frequently standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor.
  • Visual acuity: near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring used in the inspection parts.
  • Hearing ability: ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action
  • Occasionally lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequently required to site and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to oils and cutting fluids
  • Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust and mist.
  • High noise levels from operating machines
  • The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit)
