Production Planner & Inventory Control Specialist

Position Summary

The Production Planner & Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting production flow, and ensuring compliance with aviation industry standards. This role focuses on precise data entry, cycle counting, and inventory tracking within a manufacturing environment producing air cooling systems for the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Monitor stock movements including receipts, transfers, and usage in production.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of inventory in accordance with company and aviation quality standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Receive and put away parts, create and record new locations.

Data Entry & Systems Accuracy

  • Perform timely and accurate data entry for inventory transactions.
  • Update inventory records for purchases, production usage, and adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.

Cycle Counting

  • Conduct regular cycle counts of inventory items to verify stock accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Perform physical inventory audits and support full inventory counts as required.
  • Identify root causes of variances and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to aviation industry regulations (e.g., traceability, lot control, and documentation accuracy).
  • Maintain proper documentation for inventory transactions, including batch/lot records where applicable.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate inventory records and assist with year-end inventory reconciliation activities.

Coordination & Support

  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure material availability and accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or other inventory control methods as required.
  • Report inventory issues, shortages, or excess stock to management.

Production Planning

  • Assist in production planning & scheduling, ensuring needed materials are available.
  • Assist in the procurement of new materials
  • Receive parts and check that Certificates of Conformance are received.
  • Check inventory manufacturer machine shop, fabrication and raw materials against pending, manufacture tickets.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of inventory control, warehouse, or manufacturing experience (aviation or regulated industry preferred).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Proven experience in inventory control, data entry, or a related role within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read part numbers, labels, and technical documentation.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, data entry systems).

Working Conditions
