Job description

Gardner-Webb University invites applications for the Graduate Intern for Compliance position within the department of Athletics.

Position Description: The Graduate Intern for Compliance will develop an understanding of NCAA Division I legislation, Big South Conference and Gardner-Webb University policies and procedures as they pertain to the GWU Athletic Department.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a focus on customer service. The position is designed to provide the candidate with hands-on experience working with NCAA Bylaws and processes in an environment that is conducive to immersion in the day-to-day workings of a Division I compliance office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain 40 office hours per week (evening and weekend responsibilities required).
  • Attend NCAA compliance rules education sessions and present on topics as requested.
  • Research NCAA information regarding interpretations and file documents accordingly.
  • Compliance Software maintenance (i.e., student-athlete forms, coaching activities, coding, ARMs maintenance)
  • Facilitate pass gate, which will require availability for all home football and men’s and women's basketball games.
  • Assist in the creation of content for social media and other projects; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Gardner-Webb NCAA Graduate Intern for Compliance will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Athletics Director with daily NCAA compliance tasks, functions, and systems maintenance. In addition, this position will coordinate and provide support with NCAA, Conference and College reporting requirements.

Assist with all processes related to Recruiting, Financial Aid, NCAA Eligibility Certification, Academics, Playing and Practice Seasons, Recruiting, Name Image Likeness, Roster Management, Transfers, Awards/Benefits, etc.

Work closely with various College offices such as Enrollment Management, Financial Planning, Registrar, Institutional Technology, etc.

Assist with all institutional, conference and NCAA data entry and reporting.

Will use applicable technologies, computers, software packages, and the Gardner-Webb computer network, including ARMS, Slate, NCAA Compliance Assistant, Transfer Portal, Eligibility Center, etc. to satisfy all processing needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Acceptance into a GWU Graduate program

College athletics experience preferred

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required as part of job duties.

Travel requirements are minimal; however, occasional travel may be necessary to support athletic operations, meetings, training, or special projects.
