The role: The Network Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s enterprise network and voice infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

Focused on performance, security, and reliability, the role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and executing maintenance activities to ensure stable operations. The Network Specialist will also help implement security controls, enhance network resilience, and develop standard procedures while collaborating with cross-functional teams to continuously improve network services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Network and Voice environment (on/off prem) as part of a team of Technology Specialists
  • Configuration and administration of routing and switching equipment, hosted Teams Phones (Voice), Operator Connect, firewalls, SD-WAN solutions, load balancers and branch Wi-Fi
  • Recommending, planning, and implementing Azure networking solutions
  • Deploy networking solutions by using the Azure Portal and other methods, including PowerShell, Azure Command-Line Interface (CLI), and Azure Resource Manager templates (ARM templates)
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with other specialists on network optimization
  • Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the infrastructure technology being implemented is compatible with current standards and aligned with future goals
            • Execute defined maintenance plans as part of IT’s preventive strategy for the stability and reliability of our Infrastructure
            • Design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment
            • Support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy
            • Assist in building and maintaining standard operating procedures for all assigned technologies 


            Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

            Network types & Technology Skills 

            • Professional who has the subject-matter expertise in network and voice technologies and experience to be an effective internal consultant
            • Expertise on LAN, WAN, VXLAN, WLAN, Wi-FI built on Cisco network infrastructure
            • Expertise on managing Teams Phones platform, call queues, and Operator Connect hosted services
            • Expertise in planning, implementing, and maintaining Azure networking solutions, including hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services
            • Detail IP routing knowledge (OSPF, BGP, MPLS based IP VPN’s)
            • Experience with Network Load Balancers and SD-WAN solutions
            • Knowledge and hands on expertise on PaloAlto firewalls and Zero Trust Networking
            • Detail knowledge of Windows Networking Services (DNS, DHCP, DFSR)
            • Voice technologies: SIP, H323, SCCP, RTP protocols
            • Voice codecs e.g. G711/G729
            • CISCO IOS hands on expertise
            • Virtual Server Technologies Expertise

            Non-Technical Skills

            • Able to prioritize and plan workload, in order to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
            • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to interact with and build effective relationships at all levels of management and staff
            • Able to work with 3rd party vendors to ensure commitments are met and delivered on time.
            • Service oriented and customer focused, with the enthusiasm and tenacity to meet goals and commitments of the team
            • Comfort learning and adopting new digital tools, with an openness to using AIenabled technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and the Member experience

            Education, Designation & Experience

            • 8 + years’ related industry/professional experience with implementing and managing technologies in a complex, multi-platform computing/network environment with responsibility for problem identification and resolution
            • Network engineering diploma or equivalent
            • CCNA, CCNP OR CCIE preferred
            • Certified Azure Network Engineer preferred

            Salary Range: $68,800.00 to $103,200.00 CAD

            Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office - 3280 Bloor Street West or St. Catherines Office - 75 Corporate Park Drive

            Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office as needed. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
