Job description

Saalex is seeking a Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator in Ridgecrest, CA. Saalex is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $80k-$100k annually (depending on experience)
Work Location: Onsite. China Lake, CA.
Overview
The Journeyman System and Server Administrator supports day-to-day administration, sustainment, and security of Linux and Windows server and client environments. This role focuses on executing established procedures, responding to operational needs, and supporting compliance and patching activities.
Essential Functions:
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Support containerized environments using tools such as Podman or Docker
  • Perform system sustainment, patching, and vulnerability remediation
  • Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements in accordance with established policies
  • Administer Microsoft Server (2016 or later) and Windows 10/11 client systems
  • Perform client administration, including imaging and provisioning
  • Assist with Windows and Linux patching cycles
  • Utilize Bash scripting (Linux) and PowerShell (Windows) for basic automation and task execution
  • Support Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems
  • Apply foundational network services knowledge to help troubleshoot high-volume data transmission issues
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 3-6 years of system and server administration experience
  • Hands-on experience with RHEL and Windows server/client environments
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, patching, and compliance
  • Basic scripting/automation experience (Bash and PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage and networking concepts

Education:
  • Associate's Degree plus 4 years' additional work experience OR 3 to 10 years of experience and a BA/BS degree.

Security Clearance:
  • Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
