Job Description
SAIC is seeking a Design Engineer to join our San Diego team. The successful candidate will provide engineering design and drafting services to. This work requires an understanding of C4I and enterprise IT network systems infrastructure and expertise in 2D renderings, developing, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings and documentation using computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of design requirements.
*Up to 25% of travel required for this role, both domestic and foreign.*
JOB DUTIES:
  • Engineering drafting, drawing review, drawing control in the design of electronic/computer network equipment, systems and installations.
  • Produce mechanical, electrical/electronic drawings from rough engineering sketches and preparing drawing layouts from one or more engineering sketches. In addition, examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.
  • Participate in computer network installation site surveys and develop Initial Design Plan (IDP).
  • Provide technical expertise in developing, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings and documentation using computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of design requirements.
  • Develop drawing packages using existing packages to the maximum extent.
  • Develop, validate, modify, maintain, and utilize drawing packages and drawing trees to reflect the interrelationship of engineering drawings and associated lists.
  • Create and update "As-Built" drawings, red-lined drawings, and Installation Requirements Drawings (IRD).
  • Develop Installation Drawing Packages (IDP), Functional Interface Drawings (FID), and block diagrams (schematic and functional), including all interfaces.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software compatible with existing formats.
  • Develop Technical Data Packages (TDP) and review reports.
  • Ensure all drawings and TDPs comply with established Quality Control Program standards and applicable instructions.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start.
  • Two (2) years of experience in AutoCAD and associated program.
  • Ability to utilize and read complex drawings and rough engineering sketches.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing 3D renderings.
  • MS Visio experience.
  • Overall experience must reflect ability to prepare complete engineering graphics layouts, which includes drawings, graphs, and spreadsheets for projects.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with developing drawings in accordance with the NAVWAR Shore Installation Policy Handbook highly desired.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Travel Required up to 25% required to both foreign and domestic locations.
